Bothered by people constantly thinking you’re grumpy? Furrow lines on your forehead create the appearance of a frowning face, even when a person is at their happiest. Drooping eyebrows can also create an unhappy or tired look. These issues typically come about as a result of the aging process. Some people also have a genetic pre-disposition to them.

With a surgical procedure known as the forehead lift, we can fix that constantly grumpy look for good and give you a more relaxed appearance.

What Is a Forehead Lift?

A forehead lift, or brow lift, is a surgical procedure that rejuvenates one’s appearance by lifting sagging eyebrows and reducing the deep furrows on the forehead. If you are concerned about drooping eyebrows and vertical and horizontal forehead creases, you may be an ideal candidate for the procedure.

The forehead lift offers a number of benefits:

  • A more youthful appearance
  • Long-lasting results
  • Complete removal of frown lines
  • Lifting of drooping eyebrows

The Procedure

Before the forehead lift, a consultation will take place. Your medical history will be assessed, and you’ll be able to talk about your needs and goals for the procedure. You’ll be walked through the procedure, and any complications that could arise will be discussed with you.

After your consultation, the surgery will be scheduled. You will be asked to stop smoking for at least four weeks prior to surgery. On the day of the procedure, it is advised that you not wear makeup or contact lenses.

Under general anesthesia or local anesthesia accompanied by sedation, you will receive a coronal incision behind the hairline. If you do not need any hairline correction, the incision will be made across your hairline reaching from one ear to the other.

Once the incision is made, excess skin is removed and the underlying muscles are adjusted as needed. Through this, frown lines are flattened out. Sutures will be used to close the incision.

The Recovery Process

You will be discharged the same day as your brow-lift surgery. If you paired the brow lift with other procedures for more comprehensive rejuvenation, you may have to stay overnight.

During your recovery process, it will be best to follow post-surgical care instructions as closely as possible. Swelling and bruising are common following this procedure; these can be treated with the help of ice packs. Making sure to keep your head elevated during your recovery period will also ensure that swelling is minimized.

You will need to take time off of work but may be able to return in around two weeks from the procedure date. Bending and heavy lifting is forbidden for around four weeks, as these can create unwanted complications. Avoiding heavy sun exposure as your tissues heal is also recommended.

After complete healing and full recovery, patients can show off their full results.
