Chin Implants Procedure

A Chin Implant is a surgical procedure to improve the balance of your facial profile and correct a “weak” chin.

An implant is placed over the bone structure of the lower jaw, augmenting the dimensions of your jaw. With the different options available, you can widen or lengthen your jaw to create a stronger looking chin.

Would I Be a Good Candidate for a Chin Implant?

If you have a weak chin and would like it to better match your other facial features, a chin implant may be right for you. This procedure is best for patients who are non-smokers. Smokers must quit several weeks beforehand and continue to avoid smoking during recovery. Good candidates have realistic expectations for their results.

The Procedure and What to Expect

At the start of the chin augmentation procedure, anesthesia is administered to the patient. The plastic surgeon will create an incision inside of the mouth at the spot between the lower lip and the gums. A chin incision may also be an option.

A pocket will be created in the tissues so that the implant can fit snugly, and then the implant is inserted through the incision into this pocket. It is affixed in place, and then the incision is closed with stitches.

I have had nothing but excellent experiences every time I go to your office I let all my friends and family know about how great your office is. Thank you for making every visit great!

Healing and Aftercare

The recovery process after getting a chin implant will involve taking up to a week off from work. Bruising and swelling will be present, and it will be necessary to use an ice pack to reduce these issues. Patients should keep their head elevated at all times to keep swelling to a minimum. No pressure should be placed on the chin until healing is complete.

How Much Does a Chin Implant Cost?

The details of your chin augmentation procedure will determine its price. The cost of chin implant surgery varies depending on the exact techniques employed, the length of the surgery, and many other factors.
