Refresh your appearance with eyelid surgery in Salinas to eliminate signs of aging like wrinkles, puffiness, and sagging skin. This allows patients to achieve a more youthful appearance. The eye region is very delicate, so it is important to choose a board-certified plastic surgeon for your procedure.
Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is a procedure to improve the area around the eyes. With age, our skin loses it’s elasticity and the skin begins to sag. Some people also have fat pockets that start to bulge below the eyes as well. Having drooping eyelids and/or bulging eyelid fat can make people feel like they look older and more tired than they are. Sometimes the excess skin on the upper eyelids can also block peripheral vision.
If you want to improve your look and get rid of the bags under your eyes, you may be an ideal candidate for eyelid surgery. You may also undergo blepharoplasty if you have droopy eyelids that get in the way of your vision; in cases like this, it is considered a functional procedure.
It is important that you are in good health with no underlying conditions that could get in the way of your healing. Ideally, you are a non-smoker or are willing to quit.
During your initial consultation at Salinas Valley Plastic Surgery Associates, a physical examination will be done. This assessment is important so that a personalized treatment plan can be formulated to address your concerns.
You and your plastic surgeon will also review your medical history, especially current medications and health conditions. You can ask any questions that you may have.
Blepharoplasty surgery can be done on both the upper and the lower eyelids. In the procedure, excess skin is removed and fat may be removed or re-shaped to create a more youthful appearance.
Upper Blepharoplasty can sometimes be covered by insurance if a visual field test verifies that vision is being blocked. Otherwise, it is considered to be cosmetic surgery. Lower Blepharoplasty surgery is almost always considered a cosmetic operation.

After your eyelid surgery, you may need a few days for recovery and some downtime at home. The lubricating ointment that is applied on your treated area may blur your vision for a time.
Bruising, soreness, and swelling are normal in the first week and should disappear after several days. Keep your head elevated while sleeping and apply cold compress to alleviate the discomfort.
With the client-centered approach at Salinas Valley Plastic Surgery Associates, the cost of eyelid surgery varies from patient to patient. The overall price includes the anesthetic fees, extent of work done, and any additional surgical procedures done in combination with your blepharoplasty.
