svps_dr_romans_bioDr. Romans has been practicing Plastic Surgery on the Central Coast since 1996, which makes him one of the most experienced Plastic Surgeons in the area.

He was born in Colorado but moved to California at a very early age. Since then, other than seven years away from California for his surgical training, he has lived exclusively here in California. He attended college at Pacific Union College in the beautiful Napa Valley, where he received a bachelor’s degree. From there he went to Loma Linda University Medical School in Southern California. He spent seven years away from California for surgical training at Michigan State University for General Surgery training, followed by Plastic Surgery training at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. While there, he worked with world-class Plastic Surgeons that passed on their approach to Plastic Surgery to him. To this training he has added his own artistic ability, and the resulting product is a surgeon with a passion for superior results and top-quality medical care.

Philosophy

Now that I have been in practice for over 28 years, I feel that the next decade will be the prime of my career. I still love the variety of procedures that I do as a plastic surgeon. I love that plastic surgeons are trained to operate from head-to-toe and that we treat patients of all ages. I like continually pushing the boundaries of my specialty and advancing my craft with new techniques.

I feel it is important that plastic surgeons maintain their roots in all areas of Plastic Surgery. I believe that the techniques required to do complex reconstructive procedures hone Plastic Surgery skills and make them much better Cosmetic Surgeons. – Matthew Romans, MD
