This can be an extremely disappointing after finally achieving your health and aesthetic goals. It should be a celebratory moment, and yet it feels somehow incomplete.
Salinas Valley Plastic Surgery has helped countless men and women put the finishing touches on their weight loss through Body Lift surgery.
Your Initial Consultation
During your
consultation appointment, the
surgeon will explain the procedure in detail, including preparation steps and the post-operative healing process. If you have any questions or concerns, this is the best time to discuss them.
The doctor will review your medical history in order to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for the procedure or not. The best candidates for this procedure are healthy non-smoker who are at a stable weight.
If you have had gastric bypass surgery, you will be carefully evaluated to ensure that a circumferential body lift is the right procedure for you. You should also talk with your bariatric surgeon to fully ensure this procedure’s safety.
Circumferential Body Lift Procedure
Body Lift surgery is a procedure to remove the excess hanging skin and improve the overall contour of the body to reveal your new, slimmer shape. This procedure is customized to treat specific areas.
A circumferential body lift takes between four and six hours depending on the extent of the surgery. It is performed under general anesthesia.
The
surgeon will start by making a circumferential incision around the abdominal area. The incision will extend around the sides to the lower back. Through this incision, the surgeon will remove excess fat and skin. Tissues will be tightened and repositioned, and then stitches will be used to close the incision.

Sometimes liposuction may be done in conjunction with a Body Lift procedure to remove any remaining pockets of fat. Your Body Lift procedure will be formulated to fit your individual needs. Our doctors take into account each patient’s individual goals and needs to create the best plan for you.
After the Procedure
After the circumferential body lift, you will have to spend a night in the hospital. A nurse will assist you in the post-operative care.
Multiple drains will be placed for seven to ten days in order to remove fluid collection, helping to prevent hematomas and seromas. During recovery, patients will need to stay home from work and must avoid physically taxing activities.
